Q & A

Do you have a process for admission? Families must apply on the Apply Philly Charter to be included in the lottery. Applications typically open in September and close in January. The lottery is in February.

Is there a criteria for admission to the lottery? They just need to apply. Some families will receive preference based on having a sibling attending, a staff member, or being “in-zone”.

Who’s exempt from the lottery? Anyone can apply, however, out-of-state applications will be marked Invalid. Also, current 8th-grade Tacony Academy students do not need to apply to the high school as they automatically have a spot.

Is there a catchment zone?   Tacony’s catchment for Elementary School is (Ethan Allen, Gilbert Spruance, Hamilton Disston, Solis Cohen, Kennedy Crossan, J. Hampton Moore, Rhawnhurt, and Louis Farrell) Tacony’s catchment for High School is Abraham Lincoln & amp, and Northeast HS. We also offer reference to current 8th-grade students of Memphis & amp; Lindley into 9th grade.

Is there sibling preference? Yes, for families that have a student currently enrolled in grades K-11, must be siblings (share a parent, adoption, foster, or marriage) and be able to provide documentation.

Are parents notified when a child is accepted? They are notified through Apply Philly Charter. Once they are accepted you will receive a “next step” email.
