What is a Renaissance School?
The School District of Philadelphia’s Renaissance Schools Initiative is aimed at bringing transformative change to the city’s lowest performing schools. The District works with school communities to select education management organizations with proven track records of operating and supporting high-achieving schools to turnaround failing schools.

Who can enroll?
Memphis Street Academy is a neighborhood school with priority being given to residents living in the Port Richmond community; however, all students residing in Philadelphia may apply.

Is there a dress code?
Memphis Street Academy Charter School has a dress code that consists of a formal uniform with a blazer.

Is bus service available?Only students with school bus accommodations are provided yellow bus service. All other students who live more than 1.5 miles from the school will receive transpasses.

What time does school begin and end?
8:00 am to 3:00 pm

What is the length of the school year?
The school year begins in September and ends in June.

Are both breakfast and lunch available to students?
Yes, both breakfast and lunch are available to all students. Subsidies are available based on financial need.
